Warning notice system
This manual contains notices you have to observe in order to ensure your personal safety, as well as to prevent
damage to property. The notices referring to your personal safety are highlighted in the manual by a safety alert
symbol, notices referring only to property damage have no safety alert symbol. These notices shown below are
graded according to the degree of danger.
DANGER
indicates that death or severe personal injury will result if proper precautions are not taken.
WARNING
indicates that death or severe personal injury may result if proper precautions are not taken.
CAUTION
indicates that minor personal injury can result if proper precautions are not taken.
NOTICE
indicates that property damage can result if proper precautions are not taken.
If more than one degree of danger is present, the warning notice representing the highest degree of danger will
be used. A notice warning of injury to persons with a safety alert symbol may also include a warning relating to
property damage.

Note
Siemens
AG does not accept any liability for damage and failures that result from the non-
observance of these operating instructions.
These operating instructions are part of the gearbox delivery. Store the operating instructions
near the gearbox. Please read the operating instructions prior to handling the gearbox and
observe the information they contain. This is the best way of ensuring safe and disturbance-
free operation.
The operating instructions include information about the permissible mounting position
deviations.
The operating instructions supplement the SIMOGEAR Operating Instructions BA 2030 and
apply to the standard version of the SIMOGEAR gearbox:
Helical gearboxes Z sizes 19 to 69
Bevel gearboxes B sizes 19 to 49
Bevel gearboxes K, sizes 39 to 89
CAUTION
Impermissible mounting position deviations
Only the deviations from the standard mounting positions listed in these operating
instructions are permissible for the gearbox in question.
Please contact Technical Support for all other mounting positions, angles or gearbox types.

Permissible mounting position deviation with the standard oil quantity
The mounting position M1, M2 or M4 is stamped on the rating plate.
In the standard mounting 0° position, the oil level can be checked from gearbox size 39 and
higher. Gearbox sizes 19 and 29 are lubricated for life. As a consequence, it is not
necessary to check the oil level.
An oil sight glass, option G34 is possible for:
Helical gearboxes Z, from size 39
Helical gearboxes K, from size 39
Helical gearboxes B, from size 49
Notes and procedures on the topic of checking lubricants and changing lubricant in the
standard mounting position are provided in the operating instructions for
SIMOGEAR gearboxes BA 2030.

Permissible mounting position deviations with option D09
The permissible mounting angle is stamped on the rating plate.
For an increased amount of oil in the gearbox, it is not possible to check the oil level in any
mounting position.
For option D09 - and an additional oil sight glass, option G34 the oil floods into the oil sight
glass. As a consequence, in the standard 0° mounting position a visual check can be made
as to whether oil is available.
An oil sight glass, option G34 is possible from gearbox size 39 and higher.
Note
Oil cannot be completely drained for deviations from the standard mounting position
If, for a
deviation from the standard mounting position, the oil drain is not located at the
lowest point of the gearbox housing, then the oil cannot completely drain.
To drain the oil, bring the gearbox into the standard mounting position.

General notes on mounting positions and oil quantities
NOTICE
Gearbox damage caused by incorrect oil quantities
The oil quantities listed in the tables are guidance values for changing the oil. They are
used, for example, for lubricant storage and procurement.
The precise values depend on the number of stages and transmission ratio of the gearbox.
Only operate the gearbox in the mounting position specified on the rating plate. This
ensures that the correct quantity of lubricant is provided.
Note
Gearbox sizes 19 and 29
Gearbox sizes 19 and 29 are lubricated for life. There are no openings to check the oil level.
Mounting positions M2 and M4 are equipped with a vent valve.

Permissible mounting position deviations for option D09, with oil sight glass
The permissible ±20° mounting angle is stamped on the rating plate.
With an additional sight glass, option G34 the oil floods into the oil sight glass. As a
consequence, in the standard mounting position, from gearbox size 39, a visual check can
be made as to whether oil is available.
