ULTRA-SMALL SUPPLY VOLTAGE SUPERVISORS
Check for Samples: TPS3800-xx,TPS3801-xx,TPS3802-xx
1FEATURES DESCRIPTION
2 Small, 5-Pin SC-70 (SOT-323) Package
Supply Current of 9 mAThe TPS380x family of supervisory circuits monitor
supply voltages to provide circuit initialization and
Power-On Reset Generator With Fixed Delay timing supervision, primarily for DSPs and other
Time processor-based systems.
TPS3800 = 100 ms These devices assert a push-pull RESET signal when
TPS3801 = 200 ms the SENSE (adjustable version) or VDD (fixed version)
TPS3802 = 400 ms drops below a preset threshold. The RESET output
remains asserted for the factory programmed delay
Precision Supply Voltage Monitor 1.8 V, 2.5 V, time after the SENSE or VDD return above its
2.7 V, 3 V, 3.3 V, 5 V, and Adjustable threshold.
Manual Reset Input (Except TPS3801-01) The TPS380x devices, except the TPS3801-01,
Temperature Range: –40°C to +85°C incorporate a manual reset input (MR). A low level at
MR causes RESET to become active.
APPLICATIONS The TPS380x uses a precision reference to achieve
Applications Using DSPs, Microcontrollers, or an overall threshold accuracy of 2%—2.5%. These
Microprocessors devices are available in a 5-pin SC-70 package,
Wireless Communication Systems which is only about half the size of a 5-pin SOT-23
Portable/Battery-Powered Equipment package.
Programmable Controls The TPS380x devices are fully specified over a
Intelligent Instruments temperature range of –40°C to +85°C.

These devices have limited built-in ESD protection. The leads should be shorted together or the device placed in conductive foam
during storage or handling to prevent electrostatic damage to the MOS gates.

(1) Stresses beyond those listed under absolute maximum ratings may cause permanent damage to the device. These are stress ratings
only, and functional operation of the device at these or any other conditions beyond those indicated under recommended operating
conditions is not implied. Exposure to absolute-maximum-rated conditions for extended periods may affect device reliability.
(2) All voltage values are with respect to GND. For reliable operation, the device should not be operated at 7 V for more than t = 1000h
continuously.

(1) The marketing status values are defined as follows:
ACTIVE: Product device recommended for new designs.
LIFEBUY: TI has announced that the device will be discontinued, and a lifetime-buy period is in effect.
NRND: Not recommended for new designs. Device is in production to support existing customers, but TI does not recommend using this part in a new design.
PREVIEW: Device has been announced but is not in production. Samples may or may not be available.
OBSOLETE: TI has discontinued the production of the device.
(2) Eco Plan - The planned eco-friendly classification: Pb-Free (RoHS), Pb-Free (RoHS Exempt), or Green (RoHS & no Sb/Br) - please check http://www.ti.com/productcontent for the latest availability
information and additional product content details.
TBD: The Pb-Free/Green conversion plan has not been defined.
Pb-Free (RoHS): TI's terms "Lead-Free" or "Pb-Free" mean semiconductor products that are compatible with the current RoHS requirements for all 6 substances, including the requirement that
lead not exceed 0.1% by weight in homogeneous materials. Where designed to be soldered at high temperatures, TI Pb-Free products are suitable for use in specified lead-free processes.
Pb-Free (RoHS Exempt): This component has a RoHS exemption for either 1) lead-based flip-chip solder bumps used between the die and package, or 2) lead-based die adhesive used between
the die and leadframe. The component is otherwise considered Pb-Free (RoHS compatible) as defined above.
Green (RoHS & no Sb/Br): TI defines "Green" to mean Pb-Free (RoHS compatible), and free of Bromine (Br) and Antimony (Sb) based flame retardants (Br or Sb do not exceed 0.1% by weight
in homogeneous material)
(3) MSL, Peak Temp. -- The Moisture Sensitivity Level rating according to the JEDEC industry standard classifications, and peak solder temperature.
